General Conference Camping

We spent out General Conference weekend camping with the Inman's, Owen's, Earl's, and other friends up near Flagstaff. Here's what I learned: Flagstaff is COLD in April! It was still a lot of fun though! We crammed ourselves into the Owen's car, with all our gear, and headed up Friday evening. When we got there... there were snowflakes on the ground! Ahh! Mark had warned us that it would be cold, but snow was not on my radar! We slept in the Owen's huge tent the first night, and we were definitely a little chilly (note to self: put extra blankets inside sleeping bag - keeps you much warmer!). The next day the wind blew a lot, which kept things pretty cold. We stayed bundled up by the fire and still enjoyed being outside. The fun thing was that these families had brought up a satellite dish so that they could pick up conference! So we enjoyed all of the conference sessions outside in the beautiful nature!

That night, the families with campers invited those of us in tents to come inside, which we did for the sake of the kids, although it was definitely warmer the next day than the day before. We are definitely fans of camping, but next time we may wait until it gets a little warmer. I really wanted to go camping before the baby came, so this was kind of our last chance before I couldn't bear the thought of sleeping anywhere but in my bed.

Lindsey and Kylee, and Mike and Amy keeping warm by the fire.

Richard was in charge of dinner one of the nights and made some awesome chicken with his family's famous cheesy potatoes! Definitely a camping favorite of ours now!

Me and Amy snuggling by the fire. I was definitely happy to hold her all she wanted because she was warmer than any blanket!

Yum... hot chocolate...

Mike and Richard took several trips out to find more firewood. This time they "accidentally" went four-wheeling instead. They found some mud and the car just drive right through it. Boys...

Some of the little boys had thrown a rope over a tree and made a little swing by tying a note at the bottom of it. Amy thought it was so much fun and just pushed herself around in it all morning. This is the day that it had finally stopped blowing cold wind, so she got to venture away from the fire!
