Christmas Eve brought the annual Fiesta, featuring Gecko Grill! So good! We also had the 1st annual Lewis Family Nativity! We finally have enough kids who are old enough that we can play the parts (maybe someday we'll be able to just watch the kids do it).
Amy and Keaton were Mary and Joseph, Mike was the Donkey (he's such a good sport!), Calli and Jessica were shepherds, Taylor and Summer and I were angels, and Brendan and Matthew were wisemen (Brody was asleep, so he participated in spirit). Dad told the story, and mom did recording and picture taking! Then we got to sit outside around the fireplaces and sing Christmas carols. It was really fun!
While we were outside, Mrs. Claus brought the kids matching jammies - after all that coordinating, you'd thing we would have gotten one nice picture for Grandma, but we never did... dang it.
Then there was the pinata to take care of! It was a pretty tough one that the kids barely dented, so it was up to Brendan to beat it down - and he did! It's fun that the kids are old enough to go after the candy now instead of just picking up one and walking away! Christmas is definitely getting more interesting as the grandkids are growing up! The night ended with Mom reading (sort of… she made up a couple lines here and there) The Polar Express (much to Amy’s delight!). Then the kids went off to bed so Santa could fill their stockings and leave them toys! Christmas morning brought happiness to all! First of all, to the shock of all, CALLI DID NOT FIND THE PICKLE! There are two pickles on the tree these days - usually because Calli always finds one and the rest of us can fight over the other one, but this year Summer and Mike found them. Mike got the Biggest Loser workout cds (Yes!). Then it was time to open presents. Amy got a little princess doll set, along with some other little things in her stocking from Santa. She also got a McDonald's set and teaset from Grandma and Grandpa and Matthew got an alligator toy. Mike and I received gift cards (which were spent on a deep freezer! Woo hoo!). Grandma and Grandpa Laudie sent Amy a play tent (which she slept in at naptime for about a week) and some books, and Matthew got a cute outfit. Mike also got a frisbee golf bag from Brendan, and I got the Pioneer Woman Cookbook from Lisa. Mike also got a shirt and tie from the Laudies. We got some nice presents from my boss and his wife, including a really nice bottle of perfume for me, a teddy bear for Matthew, and a puppy play set for Amy. And more games and cds and so much more! Basically, we got a lot! We still had the traditional sausage gravy and biscuits, but dad made it instead of Grandpa! Grandma and Grandpa came over for lunch later that day, along with Summer's beau, Matt. We pretty much relaxed the rest of the day.
